Professional Bassoon Reed

This reed will work well for high school students all the way up to professional players. These reeds are light and free-blowing, letting the player achieve a resonant, clear sound without taxing the embouchure.

I would consider these reeds to be in between “medium” and “medium hard” if you’re used to that scale for measuring bassoon reeds. These reeds aren’t suitable for beginning players. 

My reeds are currently made with:

• Rieger 1A Shape: either Miller KJI cane or Barton Cane Standard Profile with Gonzalez cane
• Rieger 2 Shape: Miller Select Reserve***

***Note: Due to customer preferences, I’m considering phasing out Rieger 2 shaped reeds and just focusing on 1A (going to leave the Rieger 2 on “sold out” for the time being). If you want Rieger 2 reeds, send me a message and I can make a batch for you! 

I seal the reeds with either epoxy or thread/Duco and I cannot guarantee which I’ll be sending (changing up the colors is how I keep myself engaged and motivated), but feel free to send an email and we can discuss which reeds are available. I can also usually accommodate other custom preferences on how the reed is scraped/other variables- let’s talk about it!
