Reed Info

Here you’ll find answers to any questions you may have about Laughing Crow reed specifications. If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to contact me for additional information!

Measurements:

My blades are typically between 26-27mm depending on the individual reed. The space from the middle of the first wire to the middle of the second wire is 7mm. I will be updating with approximate dial indicator markings soon!

What level of hardness are the Professional Reeds?

I would consider my Professional Reed to be somewhere right between “medium” and “medium hard”. In my playing, I try to use air support/intensity rather than embouchure to support the sound and a lighter reed helps make sure the embouchure doesn’t get overused. A typical reed I’ll sell has a well-defined spine and it tapers down quite a bit in the channels. There are so many ways to make a great sounding reed, and these techniques are what I’ve found to work well for me!

If you’re used to a thicker reed (I preferred slightly heavier reeds when I had my Fox 601) contact me and we can come up with a good plan for your order!
